Depends on size, but 45 minutes to an hour. Check it, when tender its done

400 degrees for 45 minutes to an hour depending on size.

poke w/ fork, wrap in plastic wrap, microwave for about 10 minutes

Cut it into small chunks and you'll save yourself an hour

I'm a 425 sweet potato baker. I put it directly on the middle rack, but I put a piece of foil on the lower rack to catch the drippings from the pokes with a fork. Time depends on the size and whether it's fat or more slender.

I don't poke with a fork unless I'm short cutting by hitting the microwave for a few minutes to start. The skin will "puff up" from steam in the potato, and it is goooood.

I didn't do it once and had a bad result, so I always give a poke or two.
