What would you guys say that said position should make? Barge & tugboat company that transports petrochemicals. 6 years in the industry. Those 6yrs spent with the same company, and going to various departments in order to learn the nuances of the company's operations. MBA while still working 50+hr weeks; because the CEO strongly suggested to do so. Would be managing eight guys and overseeing the logistics of roughly 75 boats & 160 barges. Office is in New Orleans.

Glassdoor & Salary websites say $90-107'ish. What say you?

I have no idea really but assuming it's with the company you've been at 6 years + MBA, I'd say $120,000+

You should do no less than $90k. My line of thinking would set $110k as the minimum

Yeah 6 figures easy. Depends on their abilities but a good logistician could be worth there weight in gold. Where is it based? My father was the head of logistics for the military out of Kuwait and now does work with general dynamics training other logisticians. If the job is posted somewhere I could send him a link to see if he is interested.

That is what I am thinking. My line of work involves ERP implementations, and I just can't imagine my clients paying a logistics director lower than $110k.

New Orleans. We monitor movements all along the Gulf Coast as well as the Mississippi, Ohio, Illinois, Tenn., and Arkansas rivers.

I have passed through this department within the past 6 years. I am currently filling the role as director. The former director went out for back surgery, and quite frankly the surgery went to shite. 7 weeks later, he is about to complete his 16th or 17th surgery. He will likely be going home this week, but still be out for another 4-6 months.

This company has been great to me. I have been able to learn and grown so much with them. I began riding their boats for several months, came into the purchasing department, then personnel department, then logistics, then Governmental Affairs & Corporate Compliance, and lastly I am here fulfilling the directors role. Quite frankly, I feel with my experience & knowledge, of the comany, coupled with my MBA that I should be making in the $100k range.

ah you're trying to justify a raise. Good luck. I wouldn't put too much into the MBA part.

Well, the plan after I leave this area is to eventually manage our boat/barge maintenance & new construction group. That's around a $30 million budget.

I figured there were a handful of people in the same line of business with roughly the same size company. Maybe I should edit...

So when it was taking on a new job; which is essentially what happened it's just within the company, seeking $100k was justifiable. Should the outcome be different given the way the situation unfolded? I don't think so, but I would like others' opinions.

Logistics is a high demand field. Determine what number would be suitable for you and ask for $10k more. Also give us an update on how it all goes down.

If I owned the company I would pay whatever it took to get a VERY competent person to do this. It is easily a 6 figure job.
