He came for the education.

Bolden was always just an insurance policy in case Rivers didn't develop any confidence and ability and in case any freshman we signed in '13 wouldn't be ready for any backup duty this coming year. It just so happened the perfect three scenarios for QB depth happened after Bolden came to LSU. Rivers developed enough confidence that he is a decent backup QB, Mett stayed for his senior year, and one of our freshman QBs is ready to play right away. None of those were a given in the summer of 2012.

blew out his knee late last yr and couldn't do much in spring. he already had a pretty tough hill to climb to be the backup, and the injury sure didn't help matters.
