Why all the injuries?

Not criticizing, just curious. Am I missing something? The first week of practice is winding down for LSU. The players have practiced mostly in shells. There has been no serious contact until possibly today. Yet: 1) Peterson is out for the season with a broken ankle; 2) Williford received a career threatening concussion and was out for 5 minutes; 3) Alexander is out with an undisclosed injury; 4) Desean Smith has a slight ankle injury.
Is there more contact than we think in the first four days of practice?

Its par for the course with intense heat and knocking the dust off. There will be more injuries.....

Williford is the only one that effects anything. The 2 WR's were back in the depth line, and the other guys have a walk-it-off ankle twists. If that's all we have, its not bad at all, but more contact is coming...

the saints have a bunch too. it's become obvious to the rant that Les is coaching the saints as well.

It's because it's hot as hell outside. Some players probably playing a little slower than others. Heard there were alot of cramps too. not worried though.

The injuries to Peterson and Williams sound like they were just freak things. Williford's is extremely unfortunate because his long-term health is at risk moreso than the other guys.
My biggest concern is, like the OP, that we really haven't had much, if any, contact yet. I'm really hoping this isn't one of those camps where we seem to be snake-bit.
