What was the first set you tried to put together? Or which set to you collect the most? Which player did you collect the most and what was your most valuable card?

I remember collecting a lot of '89 Donruss. I collected Will Clark and Chuck Finley. My two prized cards were these:

Griffey Jr. I remember when I got my first Griffey '89 Upper Deck (pictured above). One of the happiest days of my life. Probably isn't worth $5 now.

Growing up I collected the Topps 58 All Star cards with my dad. A lot of fun. The Mantle is the one in the best condition which is nice. I've been meaning to get it graded, any advice on that would be great.

I made some curious choices to collect as a kid. Recently found a binder of only Lenny Dykstra. Also found an Advocate print of McGwire's 62nd.

Chuck's Sports Cards of Louisiana

Chuck is a good guy, if you're near any if his locations, take it to him and he can get you pointed in the right direction. I know he took several cards, that belonged to customers, to the national this year and had them graded there.

1958 Topps Baseball cards. Still have thousands of them from 59 to late 60s. They will go to my grandson.

I'm still convinced that the reason I was good at math when entering elementary school was from studying the statistics on the back of the card.

I have a nearly complete set of 59 Topps. I am only missing a few of the common cards which are incredibly hard to find.

The first set I put together by myself was 1993 Leaf Baseball.

I was 12 and the first time I saw those cards I had to get the whole set. It sucks now because the set is worth shite, and I can remember when it came out, it was one of the higher priced packs out there.

Then in the late '90s, I began to try to find "older" rookies instead of dumping money into the newer crap that started to hit the market. At the time, these were the ones I had some difficulty finding. When EBAY came out, it made my life so much easier.

I found a 1952 Topps Eddie Matthews rookie card in a common box at a card show once and bought it for .75 cents. Somebody probably got reamed out later when they realized that one got away.

have lots of sets from the 80s, but I bought them whole instead of putting them together. The 1st set I put together card by card was the 1934 Goudey set.
