I believe you, I just haven't seen that figure myself. Even if its 5 he would probably be gone unless its low 5 figures and the NCAA would let his family write a check.

Well the new ESPN story is for a signing in CT that netted $7500. The original story was a signing in FL for $5000.

Unless I wasn't paying enough attention and they were saying he was payed $7500 total, those two signings netted him $12500.

This involves a lot more money.

Personally I believe that if you own something you should have the right to sell it but the NCAA doesn't see it that way.

Herbstreit just jumped off the JFF bandwagon.

Is JFF that dumb? This is either the most outrageous story, or JFF is the dumbest human being to ever play college football.

After the Cam Newton debacle, the NCAA has ZERO credibility to go after anyone.

Nice generalization. Are you assuming college athletics should have no rules and every player should just go to the highest bidder which is likely to forever perpetuate the natural order of the college football landscape which is basically taking us back to the days where teams can sign like 80 guys...but instead its just going to be money.

Longest. Run-on. Ever.

In summary, we need some sort of governing body to maintain order in college sports. People don't even realize how overwhelmed the NCAA already is. They can't even come close to stopping half the violations that take place already. So if they happen to catch one of these you can sure as hell bet they're going to make the most of it to deter others from risking it, even though the probability of them getting caught is low. The NCAA criticism really is ridiculous to me. They don't have near the power people make them out to have.

Re the comparision to Ohio St, the big difference is that the HC knew what was going on & covered it up. As to what the players were doing, not much difference beyond the fact that JM went to these brokers' hotel rooms, signed & got paid cash.

ESPN said that the ppl making the accusations of him taking money refuse to talk to the NCAA, only to the media like ESPN etc. I think they mentioned that although these ppl admit that Manziel got paid, they wont testify on the basis that they still want to see him play. So i am not sure this will get very far, if no one will talk to the NCAA. It becomes hearsay doesn't it?

NCAA violations or not, J$F is gonna be a shiteshow this season.

He thinks he's bigger than life itself and people see it.

People are gonna knock him down a peg or two and bring his arse back down to reality.

i heard a theory on this today from a Bham sports talk show..supposedly the manziel family put some of these brokers on notice because they were using the Johnny Football name to promote their merchandise. The brokers got pissed and decided to turn JFF in for taking money
