Shaq has a statue but he's the first to tell you Dale Brown should have gone first. Dale never backed down from anyone or anything, including the Nazis over at the NCAA. What he did for LSU and basketball statewide was unprecedented. He literally drove the state handing out purple and gold nets. He was railroaded out thanks to the Lester Earl situation, which Lester admitted the NCAA pressured him into lying and for which Lester has both publicly and privately apologized to Dale Brown. Watch the Man in the Glass documentary on Dale. The school and state owe him a lot... I've already suggested to TAF that they put up a Statue of DB... But obviously Billy Cannon, Tommy Casanova, Charlie Mac???, all need consideration, Yes? No?

I don't give a crap what it is but it's way way way past due for LSU to honor an recognize Dale Brown

Do we have to wait for him to die before the school gives him recognition?

Pistol had the assembly center named for him after he died

Cholly Mac had practice facility named for him after he died

IMO it's a joke that something hasn't been done for Coach Brown. I didn't always agree with the man but there is no Shaq or 81 & 86 final fours without his tireless work

No one deserves a statue. NO ONE!

Especially Dale Brown, with the criminality of a coaching job he did the 2 seasons he had Shaq, CJ, and Stanley Roberts together. Not 1 Final Four appearance with those guys.

This culture we live in where everything and everyone deserves a fricking statue is ridiculous. No one should get a statue that is associated with athletics. I see that the Joe Paterno situation has taught us nothing. These coaches and players are just ordinary people with faults. They do not deserve a statue.

Can't tell if he hates statues dale brown or just everything

Again I don't care what it is but the school needs to honor the man somehow. Dale Brown Court or practice facility or whatever. The man built LSU basketball. LSU basketball is Ole Miss without what he did here

Have to disagree with all due respect to Dale, I think a statue is way too much and believe he should be recognized in other ways. While he had some very good years and final fours in the sec are rare ( ask Bama, vandy, om, msu, sc, A&M,auburn, tn) he also left the program in disarray, got caught by ncaa (yell all you want about ncaa, we are a member and have to obey the rules) and had an abysmal grad rate. Give him props and maybe even a building, not a statue...IMHO.

And what should his plaque read?

HC of the first sports team to be handed a MAJOR NCAA SANCTION, in the history of LSU?

Yeah, he called the NCAA Nazi's and the fallout fell upon LSU and he slinked away and NEVER APOLOGIZED TO LSU.

Dale Brown does not deserve anything from LSU, and if he were honest, he'd be the first to admit it.

Statue? My azz!!

I could see this as a legit request. I don't see a statue for Dale however. And I definitely agree with Shaq if he in fact said a Pistol Pete statue should have been up before his.

Dale Brown is a great Tiger. They should do something like Dale Brown Court at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. Similar to Duke- Coach K Court at Cameron Indoor Stadium.

That definitely takes away from everything else he did.

LSU basketball fans during Dale Brown's tenure used to be able to make post-season reservations like LSU baseball fans during Skip Bertman's.

No. Do you know how bad that looks to build a statue of a coach that won ZERO national titles? And this isn't football where the coach doesn't have control over whether or not he makes the national title game.
