Boo who. They are in the business of making money. More drinks served=more money to send little Suzie to college. Brent should know his limit. I'm sure his lawyer will deflect the blame onto the bar. LINK

Bars aren't supposed to serve to people who are drunk but it's really stupid to blame the bar
They basically have to serve to people who are legally intoxicated to stay in business

So he could afford to go to a bar and get plastered but couldn't call a cab?

The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission said its investigators found "sufficient evidence" that Beamers Private Club in Dallas sold alcohol to an already intoxicated person either late Dec. 7 or early Dec. 8 and conducted "practices that promote excessive consumption by patrons."

Does the bar share no responsibility at all?
A seperate case in Houston from this week.

That's a tough one for me, as we are all supposed to be responsible for ourselves. That being said, if the guy on the other side of the bar was a friend (and not just a customer), I would bet most people here would try to take their keys.

A Spring woman who authorities said consumed 21 drinks before driving in a fatal accident has pled guilty to intoxication manslaughter.

On Tuesday, Oscar Williams, an agent with the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission, testified that Baukus had consumed 21 alcoholic drinks prior to driving away from the bar before the accident, said Maj. Randy Field, the TABC's regional director in the Houston area.
She had the 21 drinks over a four-hour period, based upon surveillance video and her bar tab, Field said.
The bar, then known as On the Rox, was cited for over-serving a customer and had its license suspended from Feb. 27 to March 28, Field said. The bar is now called Flying Pug Sports Pub, he said.

All the person consuming 21 drinks has to say is my friend is driving.
Of course.
quote:
Irving police have accused Brent of driving with a blood-alcohol content more than twice the legal limit the night of the crash. His attorney, George Milner, has filed a motion to have the blood test performed on Brent thrown out.
Of course.

Not really. At some point they're supposed to stop serving.
But that doesn't happen in most places.

Lots of ignorant people on this thread.

There's no dram shop liability in Louisiana if the patron is of age. There is in Texas, but you're confusing the separate TABC investigation of the bar with the state's criminal case against Brent.
