Barbecue shrimp, stay away from Italian dishes.

Not the bbq shrimp. They're oily with little flavor.

The oysters rock are good here.

ETA: That's the only dish I know of that's good there and they are above average or were when I had them a few years ago.

Used to be the shrimp but lately...

I'm a fan of the bread pudding.

When's the last time you had them? Mine were in a bowl full if oil with a few flecks of seasoning floating around. Shrimp were beautiful, but flavorless.

They originated the BBQ shrimp dish but it's not nearly as good as other places. They use margarine instead of butter.

Look for something else, I don't remember what I last ordered as it's been a while.

Actually the recipe DeFelice shared with Louisiana Cookin' has 3/4 cup olive oil to 1 T Of butter. No margarine. A lot of oil.

Check this one.

DeFelice recipe

"He said the restaurant always uses margarine, not butter, and that the main ingredient in Manale's spice is black pepper."

ETA: No mention of oil.

I'm sorry you are eating there. The worst meal I've ever had in New Orleans.

This is what mine was like as far as oil. Seasonings were nowhere to be found.

Well I'm stumped. In one, the guy says they never use butter in the restaurant and in the other he says use butter and oil.

All I know is I don't eat there.

whatever you get, make sure to order it to-go so you can eat it in your car

Prepare to be underwhelmed by the BBQ shrimp. More like shrimp in a puddle of butter.

Sorry to hear that. Went once with some friends and it was pretty bad. BBQ shrimp were rubbery and say in a pool of oil spiked with pepper.

Best part of the meal was the raw oysters and glass of Malbec.
