The Jamaica Anti-Doping Commission performed a mere 106 anti-doping tests in all of 2012, according to statistics made public Tuesday by the World Anti-Doping Agency in a wide-ranging report that illuminates both the challenges and progress in the global anti-doping campaign.

Of the 106, 68 were performed out-of-competition; 38 were taken at meets. The 106 tests caught no one cheating.

Compare the Jamaican number — 106 — to the number of tests performed by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency in 2012: 4,051. Or the Russian National Anti-Doping Organization: 15,854. The Chinese: 10,066. German: 8,077. Italian: 6,794. British: 5,971. Australian: 5,186. Japanese: 4,956. Indian: 4,051.

Jamaica’s 106 tests were five more than Malta, two more than Slovenia and nine fewer than Iceland. The anti-doping agency in Iran performed 75 more tests than the Jamaicans.

For a nation with as many elite track and field athletes as Jamaica, 106 is an embarassingly low number. When non-athletic nations such Iceland and Malta test as much as them, you know that Jamaica has taken the see-no-evil-hear-no-evil approach to drug testing.

He'll never turn up dirty b/c his country doesn't test him.

Is it not totally obvious that he is? I mean, before Bolt the fastest time was 9.74 (also set by a Jamaican, btw). Bolt smashed that record by .16 secs.

Factor in the fact that the Jamaicans have a second guy who is right behind Bolt as well as the two or three fastest women on earth and you start to get the idea. Unless Jamaicans are getting exponentially faster than any other human beings on earth they are definitely juicing.

of course not, but most of his training is done there... you think he's dumb enough to show up at the olympics dirty?...

It sucks but it's becoming increasingly obvious Bolt was dirty. We thought times in general were getting better but like the three or four best other sprinters have had failed drug tests.

I bet there at least 10x more athletes in the US than Jamaica

maybe. how many athletes is JADCO responsible for? How many athletes is the US Anti-Doping Agency responsible for?

If anything, I might be more concerned that the US is testing less than 1/3 of the russians and about half the germans.

Bolt is obviously on PEDs. One of his coaches is the guy who provided Trevor Graham his drugs from BALCO. I am shocked more people don't know about this.

Graham is the guy who trained Marion Jones and Tim Montgomery.

Am I the only one that doesn't see that as being too terribly low a number? How many sports are Jamaican athletes in on the world wide scale? ...one. I'm sure they have a cricket players but who cares. Track is the answer - it's not even Track and Field - it's track, because specifically 100m. 200m and 4X100, 4x400 garner all the attention. In those 4 events, there is probably less than 20 quality sprinters total (mens & womens) due to overlapping of events. Then consider that half the year, that anyone worth testing is in Europe or Asia or States...so 106 tests isn't that astonishingly low. Now if they only tested Usain 1x a year while on the island or less then that would be an issue but if they did 5-6 over a 6 month period..that seems acceptable.

I would put the number of elite/test worthy Jamaican track and field athletes at 50-60. I can probable give you 40 names just off the top of my head, including two who competed for LSU this year. Also, note that only 68 of these tests came out of competition, which are the most meaningful tests IMO. This averages out to barely one out-of-competition test per year per athlete. That's an embarrassment.

OK, let's walk through this. Bolt ran a 9.59.

Before him the fastest time was 9.74, set by Asafa Powell. Asafa Powell was caught doping.

Before that the record was briefly held by Justin Gatlin (9.76). Justin Gatlin was caught doping.

Before that the record was held by Tim Montgomery (9.78). Tim Montgomery was caught doping.

USAIN BOLT IS RUNNING THIS RACE MUCH MUCH FASTER THOSE GUYS, AND THOSE GUYS WERE DOPING.

Starting to see the picture? The entire sport is fiction at this point. These guys are not all-natural athletes. They are literally "superhuman" in that humans can't run that fast without help.

Wait. Are there people out there who legitimately believe the virtually all of the fastest men and women in the world come from one tiny arse island and are able to beat everyone else's dopers while being clean? Really?

I honestly dgaf about doping. It's not really an advantage is every single racer is doing it.

But there is no doubt in my mind bolt dopes.

Am I the only one who likes my track with lots of dope?

Its not football, they aren't hurting others.

I want to see how fricking fast we can make a human run. Its like hooking nitrous to your car in a race.

I want high and long jumpers to start doping out of control if they aren't. FLYING HUMANS are fun to watch.

Don't many if not most of the Jamaican T&F athletes attend NCAA colleges at one point? Do they get tested?
Obvoiusly the NCAA dope testing is not as sophisticated
as olympic testing but I would think a few of their athletes would have turned up dirty.

I know Bolt didn't attend college but many of his teamamtes did.

At one time, virtually all of Jamaica's notable track & field athletes attended American colleges, but over the last 5-10, most of the top ones have opted to turn pro right out of high school instead of going the NCAA route. None of their current crop of top sprinters went to college here, with the exception of former Razorback Veronica Campbell who just got popped for PED's a couple months ago.

And besides Bolt and Shelley Anne Fraser they have basically all rested positive.

Fwiw, it's very easy to get an idea of who is doping. Anyone who has failed a test in the past and is posting similar times, anyone who trains with a dirty coach, and anyone who has made a sudden improvement in their late 20s is guilty in my eyes.

However, I do think there is a decent chance Allyson Felix and Kirani James are clean.
