The thread jack in Memphis' LF thread got me thinking. What do you guys feel is the most important factor for present day recruits?

-Football Facilities (with the arms race that is CFB, almost all major programs have amazing FB facilities. I feel like the all are pretty equal now......except the Death Star that Oregon is building)
-School Facilities (campus appeal)
-Familiarity/Trust of the Head Coach
-Familiarity/Trust of the Primary Recruiter
-Comfort with the current players
-Friendliness with other commits
-School has a good program in their intended major
-Program exposure (TV deals, etc. Not as important now a days because even the MACtion is on national TV every week)
-Amount of alumni in the NFL
-Chance at playing time
-Chance to compete for MNC
-College town atmosphere (where the partys at?)

I have personally know 8 kids who have signed with a BCS level school in the past 7 years and I must say that all picked their school based on a few factors I listed. I would have to single out though their Familiarity/Trust of the HC and Primary Recruiter as the most important factor shared by them all. I think LSU hits on most of these factors, but Les and his staffs relationships are what drive the ship.

What say you RB?

I would add:
- Geography (there is a very strong pull for kids to attend their in-state school)
- Legacy (Programs have a tendency to offer legacy kids if they are marginally talented. Some legacy kids also have a desire to follow their dad/mom/uncle/etc)

I think you hit every angle of recruiting MTB. I wish more kids were like Eric Reid and shut down recruiting. Thats just me being selfish.

For every recruit besides the top few just feeling wanted is usually the number 1 factor

Every recruit is different.

Some want to go to a school that is an NFL pipeline.

Some want a school with an academic center.

Some have friends and feel familiar with the players/coaches.

Some just want to stay close to home.

This.

It's very much an individual thing.

For me, I would see which school's General Studies Major met my needs.

For the most highly recruited, I think the quickest path to the NFL.
For the majority, the relationship to the Coaching Staff.

Every player has his own reason they pick a school. Don't you play NCAA?

Playing time has to be way up there.

Pretty spot on.

What i think is a growing trend, is the increase of kiddos who think they are in the top bracket, milk it for everything its worth and end up "an average joe" on an okay team (the Joe McKnight pun was not intentional).

Don't you mean depth chart? Time on the field has to be earned.

Getting to the NFL has to have the popular vote. Except for the rather uneducated ones that dont even realize they have a good chance of making it to the NFL and they just dick off..

those and being close to home are about 90% of the equation
