I've said it numerous times, I am no guru when it comes to this shite. But what the hell changed overnight to cause the drop again?

It was up over $3 in aftermarket and then tanked another $5 from there.

The easy answer is selling/shorting. Why? Could be any number of reasons. It's a stock that has a steady climb for years and some could be getting a huge profit. And maybe they'll get back in once the Fed ruling becomes clearer. Some could see the ruling as a catalyst for other markets to create the same rules. But Big is right: the overseas growth potential is real. Also, European consumers have cut back on credit spending much like the US did during the recession. That will turn soon. All Visa does is make money when you use one of their cards to spend money. They have very little costs associated with their "service". As long as they stay ahead of the curve: ncf, strong in new markets, etc., the sky is the limit.

In for 25 shares at $175.51

Now I'll avoid looking at it for a week so I don't see it at 172, etc.

Maybe bigfella can chime in some more. I was looking and noticed they only employee 8,500 people. That seems pretty small for such a big business.

That has to be a good thing, right?

their CAPEX is very low, they make so much profit per employee it is ridiculous. Like I said before they carry no credit risk like amex, if you default on your visa it's the banks problem, visa is just a toll road who makes more and more as prices go up, they make a fat percent of every swipe you make on your card, it's the ultimate business model in my book. The 100% yoy dividend growth the last 2 years is evidence of just how much this company is growing.

It was a deal at $190 yesterday, it's a steal at $177 now

have you seen how much gas prices have risen recently? Visa makes more bc of the higher gallon price correlating with their set fee, same with higher grocery bills, higher phone bills, etc. As long as prices keep rising and more and more people use less and less cash and visa charges the same flat fee, their profits are going to rise......i dont see any of my bills going down ever.

and i forgot to add its the biggest credit card company in the industry

The only threat to visa is our government!!!!

I'm buying 30 to 35 shares before the ex-dividend date. Under $190 - I'm happy.

ace i wouldn't buy for the dividend, there's is miniscule .33/share so you'll make $9 haha, if you can suck it up today, i think anything under $190 is a deal but anything under $180 is something to jump for joy

I'm just setting that as a deadline. The money is flowing slowly to the brokerage account. I'm going to put a buy-limit at 175 and if it doesn't happen, I'm going to get as good a price as I can get on August 13.

Yeah, but TBF wants you to know is that earnings are almost $8.50 per share - so they can jack that dividend up to the sky over time.

Dividata rates them fairly low, but now is the time to buy (they only started paying dividends in 2008).
