Anyone recommend a method to quiet down stands, especially the foot platforms? Anyone tried spray-on liner material? I've heard some say that works but worried about chemical smell.

Not a bad idea, our blinds are insulated so that does a good job of keeping the noise down.

I would think that would wear off with time.

Carpet on the floor, and I used 1" foam insulation under the plywood, and on the walls.

carpet on a the floors...spray foam...and make sure you have a good chair or atleast keep it oiled up.

I don't see how the chemical smell will last much longer than the curing time on the bed liner..should not be problem if you did it now it would be ready for the season.

I should have specified ladder and hang ons. Our box stands are pretty well taken care of. But 90% of our stands are either ladder or hang-on types. I'll give it a try on some stands this weekend so they are ready for bow season.

What brand stands are you buying? Usually cheaper stands will be noisier. If you spend a little more on the stand the first time you might save time and money later on.

If you're buyung quality stuff and its still noisy I don't know what to say. The bed liner might be a good idea. Just use a roller and hit the platform.

We learned this the hard way. There are some things you can go cheap on and get away with it, but going cheap on stands and feeders and having to replace them almost yearly adds up and is a huge pain in the arse.

If you are using ones with square or tubular steel frames, 3/8" thick foam pipe insulation and black duct tape does wonders for sound proofing them. Adhesive backed Neoprene with some tread tape (for non slip surface) on the deck/seat works well as well.

eta: this stuff neoprene

take all bolts out and replace with stainless bolts, nylon washers, and nylon lock nuts. Use nylon sleeve inserts if possible to pass the bolts through. Use white lithium grease on all moving points.

use spray foam to fill the hollow tubes so they don't resonate sound

Use roll on bed liner to coat foot surface of stand but sprinkle sand on it right after applying to increase the grip. An alternative is to use grip tape for bats/tennis rackets on frequently touched parts.

We also add pipe insulation and zip tie it in place on shooting rails and arm rests.
