Sure there are more traditional rivals, Aubun/Bama, USC/UCLA, FSU/Miami, Mich/OSU, etc, but in the current state of college football is there a bigger more important rivalry then LSU vs Bama? I may be a homer but to me it is. This game has had and will continue to have major SEC and NC implications until at least one of the coaches retires. Both schools have the tradition, talent, and fan base to make this rivalry one that everybody in the country tunes in for and I think it's about to that point.

Over the last few years... Yes. This game determines the SEC representative in the BSCNCG more than any other scheduled game.

No matter rivalry/no-rivalry, conference/OOC, intra-division/inter-division, LSU vs Bama is the biggest college football game of the season the last few years.

Its not a traditional rivalry, but it has been what college football has needed at this time. Personally, I think the Iron Bowl is the most important historical rivalry, but Auburn has sucked so bad since 2010 that the game has lost national luster.

Why do we still play Arkansas on rivalry weekend? We should play a true rival.

Even with the 2010 Iron Bowl being huge I feel like the 2011 and 2012 LSU Bama games were bigger from a media standpoint.

It was until TAMU. Now that is the most important rivalry in college football and LSU is but a footnote to the SEC West.

According to the pundits even Ole Miss is ahead of LSU.

Not really the most impt considering one or the other will go to the ncg and both teams end up with the same amt of money for their programs.

Ya... Cause the coaches, players, and fans are worried about getting their BCS money, not the outcome of the game.

Certainly is.

No matter how hard ESPN tries to push another, until it is back up on the field... this is the game that everyone knows the outcome has SERIOUS effects on a division, conference and BCS title.

No, it is not.

It is not a rivalry when one team's standards are 3-4X more difficult than the other's.

It is not a rivalry when one team is expected to beat the other one twice, should they win the game in November.

That is not a rivalry as much as it is a "test" for Bama. Pass the test in November, LSU is out. Fail the test in November, let LSU do the dirty work and prep for the retake.

Yes.

I'd also say that LSU-Florida is also a top five game every year in terms of importance. As LSU, Florida and Bama are the only multiple winners in the past what, decade and a half?

I feel like since we don't have any real in state foes that it routes every decade or so.

Ole Miss-50's,60's & part of 70's [arguably]
Auburn-The Tuberville Era 1999–2008

No. You are not.

Ask any Bama fan if LSU is a rivalry. I would bet 90% of them would say "no" as well.
