Upcoming PC Build Mobo Standoffs

I will be building my gaming pc this upcoming Saturday. I have done some preliminary "scouting" and have noticed that the fractal design r4 define case comes with 9 brass standoffs and a black thumb screw for the mobo (none preinstalled). I am installing the ASrock z87 extreme 6 mobo. That motherboard, at least from my review, has more than 9 fastening points.
So my question is do i fasten the 9 (assuming nine holes line up), and just pick which two or three spots aren't fastened, or should i fasten all places that holes line up (go buy more standoffs and screws, again assuming this is more than 9 places)?
TIA. I plan on giving you guys full specs and pictures once it is completed.

I just installed a 990fx Extreme4 on the Fractal R4 and there were two holes within 2 inches of one another, and since I only had 9 stand-offs I only secured one of those two. All the rest were secured.

I remember something like that for my extreme 4 when I put it in my r4. I don't remember how I handled it but it won't be too hard to figure out.

Yea i think they are overkill since i am not installing more than 1 GPU or anything really heavy, but i just want to make sure i wont have an electrical problem.

Your motherboard has the standard ATX mount layout. It has 9 holes to mount to standoffs in the case. Your case will have more holes than that to accommodate other form factors, but there will be 9 holes that line up with your motherboard's mounting points. I've circled those mounting points in red below:
You will be able to use all 9 and I strongly advise you to do so.

Here's where your standoffs will go:

If I recall there was an issue with how those lined up but I don't remember. There may be some mislabeled is what it was because fractal tried to label them for atx, matx, etx... It wit be a big issue though.

There are labels "a" and "m" or "a/m" but i wasnt positive what they were labeling. I assume "a" is for ATX and "m" is for mini-ATX, and "a/m" is for either an ATX or mini-ATX. Of course the case manual doesnt reference them.
I am going with what has been provided here and will run back if i have troubles.

That may have been the issue, the manual for that case sucks. I figured it would at least be specific about the fan cables and all but it wasn't.

Yea, i have been underwhelmed with the case manual explaining the cables that came in it. Fortunately i havent been busy at work so i just research issues i may run into.

I had to research the molex cables for the fans. So easy once I knew, but pissed me off for a little while.

for how amazing the r4 is, they could've sent me a 70s copy of southern living. you shouldn't really need a manual for the case, especially one so simple.

Yeah I can't remember the last time I even opened a case manual.

For a first build, already nervous, it would have been nice to have a reference for the case fans since they have a built in fan controller.

Oh yeah, I had to figure that out with sbr on skype the other day. I've never owned the R4 so I had no idea why there were a couple of fan cables hanging from the case.
