Android Rooting Help....

Look, I'm tech stupid when it comes to such things, so I need something simple. Does such a process exist? I mean really easy. I managed to jailbreak my iPhone using Green Poison, but that was pretty much a one-click deal. I'm looking for something similar here. Thanks!

Most android devices are rootable. I've never had a reason to do it, but it's doable.

Depends on the version of Android you're using. Most of the older versions are susceptible to one-click routines. The newer ones take more surgery, unfortunately. It also depends on your carrier and/or hardware manufacturer.

The easy way is to just buy an unlocked droid to start with, but that costs money. Frankly I'm at the point where I think it's worth it.

Go to xda and there are 1 click root processes depending on your phone. If it's not brand new, then there is likely an easy root.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S3. My carrier is AT&T. I'm running Android 4.1.1. And I only know that because I googled "how to tell what Android software I'm running". That's where I'm at lol.

Do you, or anyone, have a link to exactly where I need to be looking? Because I'm scared I'll find something that is the wrong process for my phone and mess up everything up.

If you don't even know where to check the software version, you don't need to be rooting

Google CASUAL for your phone and carrier.

I forgot how much more work this was on non-Nexus phones.

I've used SuperOneClick in the past to root androids. See if it works for whatever phone you have.

What are your reasons for rooting? Just curious.

I won't lie, my better judgement tells me this is the case. Has for a couple of months now. I just don't always pay attention to it.

My main reason is so I can get the cool skins or whatever like I did when I jailbroke my iPhone. Maybe a couple of other things, too, but mainly appearance.

No problem man. I understand being concerned about bricking a $600 phone. I was concerned too, but it's really not that common. The s3 handles flashing really well. I flash different roms all the time on my s3 with no issues at all

You can do this without rooting. Check out the different launchers in the app store. You don't need to root.
