Don't let the board discourage you from having a good time.

Also do you think a 3 year old would be ok to go? Or is it kind of a ritzy place?

The place gets a lot of hate here.

Place is loud and small. Depending on how well behaved the 3 year old is it might not be the best place. The kid could always catch roaches for entertainment. Also stopping in the Maple Leaf next store is a great idea can't bring a kid there. Be prepared to wait.

Hmmm, sometimes he won't sit still for a long time. Is there an area I could take him walking outside if the shite hits the fan?

You could take him outside but if there is a band at the maple it's going to be loud out on the street

Get a babysitter. Don't subject your fellow patrons to potential 3 yr old BS.

No. It's a dump. However, it's dumpiness is part of its "charm".

Cheesecake. Fried Green Tomatoes.

(Do not be afraid of roaches.... )

It's definitely not a place you see lots of kids either, but they would be fine their I'm sure.

The deep fried stuffed flounder is excellent. They also serve an unreal fried barn yard pimp.

I had the cheesecake, crabmeat stuffed shrimp, and blackened redfish with chili hollandaise sauce...It was all very good.

...and the complimentary cornbread with butter was very good too.

It is a little small for a little one, and be prepared for a wait.

Depending on the number in your party they do take reservations. Otherwise get there early or you will wait quite a while.

As others have said the place is dumpy but that's part of the charm, noisy and tight quarters, but after eating in many NY restaurants it doesn't seem that tight there.

The shrimp and alligator cheesecake is always good, the fried chicken is good, the carpetbagger steak is good.
