We all can see the upgrade that was made adding the Chief to the staff on defense. And while not taking anything away from Stud, who, by the numbers, did fairly well OVERALL as the OC here, I find the Touchdown to Turnover ratio particularly surprising... what kind of jump would you expect in the offense going to the "next level" and grabbing an ELITE coordinator the likes of Cameron?

You need a legend to explain the numbers. Some headers are hard to guess.

That said:
> 55 TDs elite team. So you need 5-6 TDs per game. > 35 ppg SEC championship. 30-35 ppg means 10+ wins

2010 seems to be the year that solidified Les' close-to-the-vest strategy. Numbers don't fit a neat patten there. Looking at those numbers, hard to believe that LSU finished in the top 10.

Tells you even more how incredibly dominant our D was. They basically had to play offense and defense.

Nearly impossible to believe we were ranked at any point in 2009

Miles is only as good as the coordinators he hires. We have seen this on display over the years. He depends on those guys to win.

I know the short fields and defensive/ST touchdowns played a part in the numbers for 2011, but in terms of yards, and 3rd downs, the squad in 2011 actually was the best we've seen since the NC

2010 and 2011 disprove that. He was supposed to be meddlesome. Numbers above above also show that stats are all over the place. Despite that LSU finished in the top 10.

08 we had a good offense. just to many turnovers which could have gone away with experience.

but instead we flushed that down the toliet for the shite show we have seen in the recent

Lets just hope there is at least some improvement on offense.

Miles had his best year ever with Stud calling plays. Everyone wanted this eliminated.

So did Miles overcome Stud, or did Stud save Miles in 11? If the later, why did we hire cam, if the former why do folks say the above about Miles?

Every coach is better with better assistants, not a real riddle. But the Miles is ONLY as good as his coordinators gets dumb. We have had weak coordinators offensively and defensively if you look at Malveto and Stud, and crow toms last years and Miles is winning games at a record pace all the while the SEC is amazingly competitive. shite just gets old.

But hell, we are also debating who is better between Rivers and Jennings, with most never seeing them take a snap or throw a live pass

I am by no means a Miles apologist. Far from it. But I think every coach relies heavily on elite coordinators. Some examples:

- Bobby Bowden had an incredible run in the 90's, especially the latter half of the decade. Who was the offensive coordinator? Mark Richt. The moment he leave, it was all down hill from there and FSU was not a threat again until Jimbo got there. The loss to Oklahama in the national championship was Richt's last game with FSU

- Speaking of Oklahoma, Bob Stoops only one a single championship despite playing in a few. That single championship was among his best defenses and his brother, Mark Stoops, was his coordinator. Since Mark Stoops left in 2003, the defense has not been as dominant and Oklahoma has not won a championship.

- Speaking of Bob Stoops, he was the defensive coordinator on the one and only championship team Steve Spurrier ever had. The offense was incredible that year, but so was the defense. They shut down FSU in the championship game.

Those are the 3 example that just come immediately to mind. Great coordinators can make a huge difference and I think most coaches would not win a championship ever without at least one world class coordinator. Even Saban in 2003 had an OC and a DC that are both now head coaches for top 10 teams.

NFL is rife with examples. George Seifert won 2 super bowls and had the #1 offense both years with 2 different QB's. OC first time was Mike Holmgren. OC the second time was Mike Shanahan. Seifert gets the wins/loss record entirely attributed to his coaching career, and incidentally he has the highest winning percentage of all time among coaches...at least he did while with the 49ers.
