Approach was from the west side through the limited Obsidian trail. Only 40 people a day, unless you're a PCT'er, are allowed. None in my group had ever been and needless to say the info we read and were given all led us to believe it wasn't going to be too hard......well, , it was an adventure. Just finding our camp, Arrowhead lake, was a serious pain. Then the skeeters were horrible. Awesome, awesome setting though.

Anyway, here's my pics.

The lake is hugging these cliffs.

Pics from camp

From the cliff, can see the PCT.

Middle Sister, Renfrew Glacier

Summit (10,047 feet) Mt. Washington, Three Fingered Jack, Mt. Jefferson, Mt. Hood (L-R)

North Sister

Broken Top, Mt. Bachelor, South Sister (L-R)

I've learned to distrust any trail that says
moderate difficulty...

Awesome pix

For the most part I've never been so surprised before. Me and my buddy were both pretty wiped after the approach. Had bigger than normal packs, but it still was much more work than the stats would lead you to believe. Lesson learned.

Thanks. had more to post but on my phone with a weak signal = PIA. Maybe later, maybe I can get another bird from fishboy.

That does look like some rugged trail. But worth it.

It was all definitely worth it. If I ever go that way again it'll be a two nighter.

That is amazing man. I'd die if I tried something like that.

NIce! Really Nice!

If you ever do it again, do a little Mount Suribachi-type flag raising with a LSU flag.

Trust me, you wouldn't. My buddys girl came and she's fairly new to hiking/backpacking and summited with us. We had to protect one section (it was only to get her down the crux of the climb) and this route needs no protection. Some balls and gumption but no pro.

Now if it was the NE route yeah you would, but so would I

I've thought about that before but the closest I've gotten is just wearing the colors.

Me last year, same mountain, except we came from the east side over the Hayden glacier.
