Wow, shocker.

I had no idea growing up with little to no parental guidance could lead to being completely fricked in the head. These people are just a little more civilized than the wolf child of France.

I can't wait for scientists to reach further conclusions in this matter.

This could open up a whole bunch of new groups who need disability pay:

People who keep up with the Kardashians
People who enjoy line dancing
People who go to WNBA basketball games

The possibilities are endless!

re: Gang Membership Tied To Mental Health Problems

Disability became the new welfare after the 1996 welfare reform act.

In regards to adult patients, because of cutural differences, black people are more likely to be misdiagnosed as schizophrenic.

In regards to kids, "crazy checks" are a commonly sought means of govt child support that carries little stigma in inner city communities. All that's required is a history of significantly bad behavior fostered by a chaotic household and a presenting complaint of "I want to kill myself." The true diagnosis should be oppositional defiant disorder or, if it's law breaking in nature, conduct disorder. Buuuut, psychiatrists and psychologists don't get paid to treat those diagnoses, so, they diagnose them with bipolar disorder or major depression and BINGO everyone gets paid, Dr. and patient.

What's the chances the majority of those kids with continued domestic chaos go on to join gangs?
