Per Scout he is flying up to Boston tomorrow to meet with the Red Sox. Anyone with the premium subscription that is able to access the rest of the article?

Have a bad feeling he's going to be gone.

This is really unfortunate. The kid could have been a big contributor on our team next year. Crap.

If he wants to sign for that kinda money then more power to him. Hopefully he realizes thats a huge mistake but college isnt for everyone.

This database LINK … says BOS is $875K under their budget. Longhi said no deal in place, but looks like the Sox do have $

Yeah the Sox have a ton of money left over from under slot signings. They tried throwing it all at Nebraska signee Ryan Boldt but he still said he's going to school. So I guess Longhi is next up.

does not mean anything

Drafted late because thought going to college

Offering him 850K, which is how much sox have left to offer, can quickly make one change their mind

30th round. Doubt Sox would throw all of their extra $$$ at him. Should be interesting.

I would be pissed if I was all of their other early draft picks and some 30th rounder out of high school signed for more than me

A guy I went to high school with did the same thing when he was drafted by the Red Sox. It was pretty much a big recruiting trip. He never signed because they didn't offer him enough money and I'm pretty sure he was drafted close to the same round as Longhi. So I guess all this means is that Longhi hasn't decided yet and this is just part of the negotiations

Boston signed a pitcher from Westminster out of Opelousas for 950k and he was drafted in the 16th round. So no telling what they'll do

Reports are it was 150k. If it was 950 it would be 850 over slot and we wouldn't be having this conversation about Longhi.
