We all know that he has been very effective with dropping his hands and counterpunching, and to a degree this is part of his strategy. My question is does anyone here think that dropping your hands is a reasonable strategy for Silva, or is he mostly a cocky dumbass and he should use a more traditional strategy?

Taunting in the first was strategy to get Weidman to strike with him

Letting Weidman punch freely at your face and pretending to get hit what him being a cocky dumbass

This.

but you can hash it out all you want. He just got knocked the frick out. The object of MMA is not to get knocked the frick out.

Therefor, he loses.

How many times did he defend his title successfully? That should answer your question.

The only reason Anderson went so over the top in this fight is because Weidman kept his cool during the taunting.

Ok, I guess that settles it. There are people who think dropping your hands is a reasonable strategy, and that's crazy to me.

Anderson was bored plain and simple. Based on resume Weidman is probable one of if not the weakest contender Anderson has faced

Yes without a doubt. He has beaten much better foes then this guy.

there are a lot of people I could destroy in a fight. But even those people, given a free shot at my face, would knock me out.

I don't follow MMA that much if at all really, but from the fights I've seen Silva in, he's a huge douche and deserves to get his shite pushed in every match.

Its a decent strategy but he took it way too far last night and just got caught.

A lot of fighters before this fight predicted weidman would beat silva. I understand that doesn't jive with teh impression of people who have loved watching silva dominate all comers for years but he was just beaten by a guy who was predicted to beat him.

He probably did taunt Weidman in part to try and keep him standing up instead of taking him down again and scoring points for the take-downs or doing damage after taking him down.

This is true, but it's still surprising to see the greatest finally go down like that.

That was Dana White getting his guys to hype up a fight IMO
