Some notes:

1) Brazilians be cray
2) The referee was carrying a "machete-like knife" on his person. During the game.
3) What 18th century shitheads actually think to quarter someone?

For your trouble, fat Ronaldo:

Well if I saw someone stab someone in my family to death and had the means to do so I'd try do the same thing.

Seriously though, that's a crazy story. Anybody find the videos?

Hey Randy, I found a video of the ref in the hospital on the same subreddit. It was titled, putting the ref back together again.

Every time I think of this story this pops into my head.

You know Ballack would have loved to quarter Ovrebo in that moment.

That game provided some comedy with that and Drogba's "it's a fricking disgrace"

After 2012 I can finally look back on it with some lightheartedness.

That Chelsea team should have been the one to win the CL and had it robbed from them. If that generation of players hadn't gotten it last year I don't think I would have ever gotten over that game.

Especially since Essien's stunning volley (better than Zidane's) should have been the winner and a goal that would have gone down as an all time great.

A man has been arrested after a referee was reportedly BEHEADED in retaliation for stabbing a player during an amateur football match in Brazil. The trouble began when referee Octavio da Silva Catanhede Jordan, 20, sent off Josenir dos Santos Abreu, 30, during a match in the Pius XII stadium, Maranhao, last Sunday. According to Correio24horas the player refused to leave the field and began insulting the referee, who was said to be carrying a knife and stabbed him. Enraged spectators then ran on to the pitch to exact revenge on the ref. According to reports he was tied up and stoned to death, before being quartered and then decapitated in horrifically violent scenes. It is also alleged his head was then impaled on a stake which was planted in the middle of the pitch. Josenir dos Santos Abreu was taken to hospital but died of his injuries. A 27-year-old man is said to have been arrested and police are searching for two more suspects. Police chief Valter Costa said: 'Reports of witnesses have indicated some people that were in the place at the time of the incident. We will identify and hold accountable all those involved. "One crime never justifies another crime. Actions likes this do not collaborate with the legality of state law." Was hilarious, but also kind of true. Chelsea was hosed.

Essien
Zidane
Still think Zizou's is better, given the volley he had to deal with.

Based on what?

Essien's is like 8-10 yards further out, he hit it while running, and put it in a better spot.

Both are great obviously just wondering what argument could be made for Zidane's.

RIght but Essien has the CB 2 feet from his face. Both are incredible and I really can't choose one over the other.
