Why is pulling the bottom of your baseball pants at your knees no longer cool?

Back in my day it was the thing to do. Only the fat people wore them down to your feet. Now everyone does.

FWIW, every time I imagined myself as a baseball player...or even when I created myself on baseball games, I gave myself the knee high socks.

It's not. It's just that it's tough to find pants that don't look like the 1920's when you pull them up. A couple of the companies make 'knicker' style pants but they're so baggy on the thigh it looks terrible. Everything goes in cycles, the short pants will come around again, let's just hope the stirrup leggings don't come back in style.

The Cardinals have what they call High Sock Sundays.

They wear high socks on Sundays, most players at least.

All the Cards' minor leaguers wear the high socks.
Back in the 70's, it was fashionable to wear the stirrup sock with long thin cutouts.

That is definitely not true unless you mean on Sundays in which case yes they do, high sock Sundays.

Outside of Sunday, only a couple wear high socks.

I never did it bc it's just something I have to deal with doing, my pant legs went down to my cleats wen I put them on, that's where they stayed

Maybe you just catch them on Sundays or a day they all like to do it.

I went to the game vs CC last night, our starter Seth Blair didn't have high socks, neither did all but 2 of the position players, Ramsey being one.

It's just a fashion statement. Somebody always wants to look different so it goes back and forth. I'm waiting for the flat bills to go myself. Hopefully the curved bills will be back when my boys start playing.
We used to make fun of the nerds with flat bills.

I saw the Springfield Cards play at Little Rock, maybe five years ago, night game, not on a Sunday. Every player had the high socks, and my buddy, a lifetime Cards fan, told me the big club mandated the minor league players wear them that way. Only exception was a guy doing a minor league rehab, Sheets (Larry?)

I always wore high socks when I played. I just preferred that style of uniform over the long pants.

In my day you had to wear them at the knees

But we also would walk 10 miles to school. Barefoot. In the snow.

That's so true. The fat right fielder had the pants down to the ankles in LL.

Everyone else...just over the knee pants...and the thin stirrups. Early 80's. Thick stirrups were considered dorky...and the jersey was loose cut-off meshy that you didn't have to tuck in.
