Only took in $9.6 million yesterday and it's being shat on by just about everyone. But it still received a B+ cinemascore, so the few audiences that saw it liked it for the most part. Just curious as to whether or not it's decent.

For reference, Despicable Me 2 took in over $34 million yesterday.

I feel like it's going to go the way of John Carter. Good movie but not enough good marketing before it came out.

No I haven't seen it yet.

I actually think it will be entertaining

But won't draw a audience. The marketing was/is a disaster #1

And it's about 15-20 years too late

Young people don't know who the frick tonto and the Lone Ranger are nor do they know the history

The series hasn't been seen in decades. I watched the reruns as a kid and that was in the early 70's.

But I do think it will be entertaining for what it is, just not enough will give it a shot

CinemaScore is shite for reference. Every movie is great. The fact that Alex Cross has an A-

I agree with this. They are digging up a show that hasn't been relevant in 2 decades in hopes that Johnny Depp in another weirdo role would draw an audience. I think it will ultimately fail but will still make a little money.

I don't necessarily agree with either of these. I don't think it will a great movie and I don't think the marketing was off, I just don't think there is much to market. This goes back to the first part of the post, it hasn't been a relevant topic in decades.

I think people were more put off by how Depp played the role. Or at least how it was shown in the previews.

I also don't really see why some of the ridiculous CG stuff needed to be there.

Seeing a horse that looks like its from an XBox 360 game running on top of a train and diving down to avoid a tunnel is as lame as it can get.

The character being old really shouldn't matter if the movie is well made. But the previews look like they just crapped out a soulless CG infused cartoon with a lame Depp weird guy.

It scored well with audiences. I don't know what else to tell you. People get upset with pretentious critics on RT so they choose to give more weight to the audience, but then dismiss that very same thing under a different name for the most part.

I don't agree with most critics and I normally put a lot of weight in the audience score because overall, it balances out and I can usually agree with them. I just don't have any desire to go out of my way to see it since the biggest selling point to it is Depp and I am not a Depp fan for the most part, especially in these types of roles.

I saw it last night. My 12 year old son loved it and I hated it.

He had no expectations because he isnt real familiar with The Lone Ranger from my childhood. He laughed out loud a lot and said it was way better than he expected.

I wanted a more gritty movie where the Lone Ranger really seems like a tough guy hero. It definitely was not True Grit or 3:10 to Yuma. Its a remake of Pirates of the Caribbean set in the old west.

Bottom line...i think younger folks will like it but us old guys that grew up with The Lone Ranger will not like it....

Armie Hammer and Depp had some pretty good chemistry. I kind of wish this movie would have been a hit to help raise his profile some. Dude needs to be in a superhero movie asap.

I could see him being the next batman. I remember his name came up a lot a few years back when they were considering moving forward with the JL film.

He was actually cast as Batman for that film before it blew up.
