Pelicans strongly interested in signing free agent forward Andre Iguodala to join old Sixers teammate Jrue Holiday, sources tell Y! Sports.

If the Pels can pull it off, you're looking at a starting 5 of:

Jrue Holiday
Eric Gordon
Andre Iguodala
Anthony Davis
Robin Lopez

Ryan Anderson off the bench as a 6th man.

Where do you see that squad going in the West? Maybe not just for this year, but the next few years down the line.

I think the lineup could just as easily be...

Jrue
EG
AI
RA
AD

depending on the matchups. Having Iggy there gives a second elite defender that will be able to cover up a lot of RA's deficiencies.

I know Grieves was good on O last year, but he was an absolute sieve on D. Jrue and Iggy, would make this one of the better Defensive teams in the league. And I'm not sure if you guys noticed, all the top Ds were in the playoffs last year.

Would be too much for iggy, I just don't think he's worth the cash. Big benefit would be adding legitimacy to the franchise though.

I like that lineup a little better, more shooting on the floor. That Sixers team was one of the worst shooting teams in the L, and while Jrue and Iggy are very good players they definitely contributed to that deficiency.

I still think that would be 6-8 seed in the playoffs.

I'm sure there will be times when they have both Ryno and AD on the court, but AD still isn't bulky enough to play the 5 for extended stretches. Ryno will still get his 30 minutes a game, regardless.

That's why almost every Pelicans fan was so pumped about Jrue. Greivis was our biggest defensive liability and we replaced him with one of the best defensive PGs in the league. Adding one of the best defensive SFs to go with AD's rim protection, as well as scoring from Jrue, Gordon, and AD, it would be a very exciting year.

I don't see that much room for improvement unless Davis becomes a dominant force. Jrue has pretty much reached his potential IMO, Iguodala is about to be on the decline. Gordon doesn't impress me that much.

he had one of the best PERs of any rookie ever, up there with Tim Duncan, Wilt Chamberlain, and LeBron, IIRC. I have little doubt he will soon become a star in the league.

the system was shite, though. collins hated 3s, driving to the rim, and loved shooting long 2s

basically the antithesis of how an offense should be run

if jrue does 3 things, he becomes dominant

1. take 3s instead of long 2s
2. drive more
3. cut down on turnovers

1 and 2 are systematic in nature and can be solved by rejecting collins' horrible offensive system. 3 may never happen

*ETA: let me be clear: this commentary is as a long-time fan of holiday in fantasy and not as a pels fan

While the exact number differs slightly per player and depending on what system you use, almost every expert/statistic says PG's peak somewhere between ages 26-29. Holiday is 23 years old.

Shooting guards usually hit their peak a little earlier but gordon has been so injury plagued you have to imagine if he's consistently healthy he'll show marked improvement.

Anthony Davis doesn't even need to be discussed his potential is so obvious

if iggy is acquired, AD better make a huge jump in offense and EG better stay healthy or there could be some offensive problems

if AD makes a solid jump offensively and we get 65 good games out of EG, iggy is a defensive/passing luxury that would be great

Jrue shot about 3 FTs a game last year. I think he has the potential to increase that a bit.

I don't have any stats, but I do feel like every time I watched him play he was taking long 2s.
