Some are good and some are terrible. Just picked up some of this and wanted some opinions.

Don't ask for opinions after you bought it but before you tried it. You already pulled the trigger, go ahead and drink one. Let us know what you think.

There is no need to market a beer as a summer beer other than to dupe the unmavenly masses.

Alright, just drank one and I must say it is very, very good. However, unlike other Summer beers, it doesn't say on the package or bottle what "flavor" they infused the beer with. It has a slight apricot ting, at least to me, but it isn't overpowering. It tastes more like beer than any other Summer one I've tried. It's light and crisp. If I had to compare it to another beer I'd say Shiner Ruby Redbird, but the Shiner has a more fruity taste.

I liked the mild winter. Went through a few kegs of it while I could get it. The summertime is good enough, but I'll buy it by the six pack.

Ruby Redbird get a surprising amount of love around here, and by surprising I mean a couple people like it. I'm a big fan of grapefruit and an even bigger fan of ginger (speaking of, Suspense, I just remembered I said I would bring fresh ginger and a French press to WYES and I spaced on it. DOH!), but Ruby Redbird needs to play with the malt and switch to an ale to balance those harsh grapefruit and ginger flavors out.

Damn. You're right.

I drank some of that shiner with sushi the other night and that was the only way that I'll drink it again.

Pass, if it is comparable to that redbird shite, no thanks. I thought that beer was awful.

The Big Dog liquor stoe in Pine Armpitoftheworld Bluff AR had variety 12 packs of GI beer on sale for $10. I bought 5 of them. There are 3 decent beers in the 12 pack. I'll rank the offerings as follows:

Honkers Ale
IPA

Summertime

Summertime is just ok. But I admittedly didn't know GI is brought to us courtesy of A-B till yesterday. All three beers just shot up the awesome ladder a couple dozen rungs.

I picked up a Goose Island sixer two weeks ago. This Kolsch style is fairly refreshing. Others that I tried recently are:

1. Laurelwood Workhorse.....well-balanced for a West Coast IPA. would recommend. Up there with Sculpin from Ballast Point.

2. Laurelwood Pilsner...better Pils are available

2. Full Sail ESB...overall very good

3. Lakefront Wisconsinite. American Wheat. Not bad at all.

4. Samuel Adams Porch Rocker-leave it on the shelf.

Goose Island Summertime is a Kolsch; I'm pretty sure it doesn't have fruit or spice in it.

It's ok, friends who are BMC drinkers love it and think they are branching out.
