Connecting to Xbox Live at LSU

Ok, so I'm at LSU and I have my Xbox registered to Netreg. I plugged an Ethernet cable into the wall and also into the Xbox which is connected via an HDMI cable to the tv. I'm still not able to connect to the internet and Xbox Live. Anyone have any idea what the problem is or if I'm dumb and just missing something? TIA

When I was there in herget 2 years ago, we had to hardwire our PC and then register the xbox to netreg, then hardwire our xbox and it would work

Wow, my brother plugged the Ethernet cable into a different spot on the wall and it worked, and then for some reason it signed off again and won't let me sign back on. Any ideas?

Most people would attempt to check the official help page before asking message boards how to solve it.

When I lived in the dorms I had to call the front desk at the dorm and tell them you are hooking up your xbox online and they will open some ports or something and it will work after that.
