Cor Bon vs Buffalo Bore

Paging Downshift and any other hard cast lead aficionados.
Any preference between Cor Bon and Buffalo Bore for hard cast .357?
If so, why?

I like the buffalo bore because that's all I've tried
My blackhawk loves the 180gr hardcast buffalo bore. It shoots it very well. Be ready for drastically more muzzle blast and a little more recoil than your standard load though. Buffalo bore loads their stuff like the old .357's were loaded. They're safe for most guns.
I think the cor bond loads are a little hotter. I've never tried them because my gun likes buffalo bore so much and cabelas pretty much always have it. Its probably the cleanest and most consistent load I've tried outside of some very expensive self defense loads, but those aren't nearly as fun to light off as those big hot 180's.
Eta: and your thread is anchored because it has my handle in the title. Just letting you know.

I like jacketed stuff for .357.

I do too, but the hardcast stuff is pretty damn sweet. It's clean and accurate. The only thing you should use for deer hunting with a .357 IMO

Jacketed is great for most things, but not worth a damn for punching a hole through a moose's head. Must have hard cast lead.
I've had enough of the heat down here...want to head back up to Alaska as soon as I can....because I can...because I'm retired....and you're not.

quote:Roger that. FYI, I recently saw a YouTube vid of a guy comparing penetration of .357 hardcast to .44 mag hardcast. There wasn't a whole lot of difference between the two.

Sorry for the dumbass questions, but what does "Anchored" mean? I'll assume that's a nice way of saying "get my fricking name out of the subject."
Teach this old dog a couple new tricks.

Eta = edited to add, when you edit a post and add something to it instead of making a new post
Anchored thread, is when an admin stops allowing replies to the thread to show up as new when you refresh the page, this usually kills the thread
ETA: it appears that this thread is not anchored at this time

You'll probably have to settle for cor-bon since downshift hoards all the buffalo bore.

Penetration is where the .357 shines. You can get a whole lot of penetration without the recoil and muzzle blast of a .44
Now of course a .44 bullet going in 30 inches is wayyyy better than a .357 going 30 inches, but a .44 in the dirt doesn't work as good as a .357 between the eyes.
I don't think you'll be disappointed with either load. The cor bond probably penetrates a little better. I think it's a 200 gr bullet at almost the same velocity as the 180gr buffalo bore. I image the muzzle blast is brutal though.

Thanks DownShift.
I found a place in Houston that has both Buffalo Bore and Cor Bon on the shelf.
I'm going to get a couple boxes of Buffalo and one box of Cor Bon.
I'm also going to start shopping for a 6" barrel .357 and let my daughter use my 4" barrel 357 now that she's old enough to open carry in Alaska

I'm launching all this out of a 6.75" barrel.
