but the teaser trailer for that movie is still one of the best teaser trailers I have seen for any movie ever. That minute and a half trailer got me so hyped up for what turned out to be a mediocre movie.

So much promise and so little delivery. I was so looking forward to this film and I literally felt deflated after seeing it.

I think about this movie all the time, and while it isn't terrible, it really is just so blah

actually I think one of the worst parts about it is the score. The Superman theme is fine, but the rest of it is really poor

Yeah.

I'm still disappointed in how DC and Warner Bros, especially Bryan Singer, completely missed the mark for what that movie was supposed to be.

Singer ruined two franchises by doing this. So boring.

After my second viewing of Man of Steel I'm no longer disappointed because it no longer matters. Man of Steel is the Superman movie I think we and others who share a love of the character have been waiting for. So much better the second time.

What's the other one? X-Men?

Yeah, I agree. That movie was pretty damaging to the franchise.

If man of steel was another flop like returns, I don't think we see another Superman movie for a decade or two. A shite ton was riding on MoS for this franchise.

Fortunately and thank god, MoS didn't even come close to anything like that.

He was the reason Brett Ratner made the universally hated XMen 3.

That was as disappointing as Superman returns was.

What's Bryan Singer doing now these days?

I hope it's something like direct to DVD stuff.

The sequel to the most recent Xmen movie. They forced out the previous director who did a great job. He's also busy being gay and trying to get a Twilight Zone reboot up and running.

Many fan(boys) reacted to the news that X-Men: First Class director Matthew Vaughn dropped out of the sequel film, X-Men: Days of Future Past, by pointing the finger at Fox, which has gained a reputation (fairly in some cases, not so fairly in others) for meddling with the creative vision of its comic book films. With Vaughn having a history of fickleness when it comes to crafting his films (check out the latest Screen Rant podcast for a few examples), it wasn’t hard to imagine that friction between studio and director was the root of the problem.

My biggest issue with Superman Returns was the desire to go back and retread the Donner universe rather than a complete reboot. That, alone, made the film awkward and an impossible gig for Brandon Routh, who was reduced to being only a stand-in doing an impression of Christopher Reeve.

Plus, I like Kevin Smith's take on it...

Yeah, I thought the same thing watching it now...nothing really happens in the trailer at all (except him flying a little). I feel people were just excited about it because it was Superman, not because of the trailer (except for the OP). Every time this is on TV (been on FX a lot lately I think), I catch a few minutes of it and it's just not very good. It's not that it's terrible, it's just not very good. I always feel like they just tried to mimic Reeves's Superman with Routh instead of trying something new.

1. The whole concept of how they did it was fricking stupid , considering you were basically asking a large chunk of your new audience to go see the original so they'd know what was going on

2. Lex Luthor's plot was dumb as shite. Not to mention it was tough to watch fricking Kumar as one of his thugs that got to kick the crap out of Supeman.

Who was the guy that didn't know shite about Superman when Smith wrote the script? Kept asking dumb questions and wanted Superman to battle a huge spider?

That trailer was awesome. I remember being so pumped when it came out several months before the movie.

Returns was miscasted and nothing but a carbon copy of Superman: The Movie. It would've been a better movie if it were a sequel or if they had left everything they cut out in the movie. I hate it because it basically brought the end to the John Williams theme as well.
