Doctor/Patient Confidentiality... Not under Obamacare

quote:

A new rule issued late Friday requires state, federal and local agencies as well as health insurers to swap the protected personal health information of anybody seeking to join the new health care program that will be enforced by the Internal Revenue Service.

Personal health information, or PHI, is highly protected under federal law, but the latest ruling from the Department of Health and Human Services allows agencies to trade the information to verify that Obamacare applicants are getting the minimum amount of health insurance coverage they need from the health "exchanges."

I love how a "Rule" by a bureaucrat can suddenly invade into a persons privacy

Also, think the states like NY will begin digging through this data in order to confiscate guns from people taking Adderal and the likes?

Unelected and unaccountable bureaucrats are probably more dangerous to freedom and liberty than all of the elected politicians combined. These are the people that are writing the CFRs and we have no control over the regulations they are creating.

No way, the IRS is a non-political organization.

But this rule doesn't just say that they are exchanging it directly with the IRS, they are exchanging it with any state, local, and federal agency...

Docs & the medical profession should challenge this in court.

Interference with the doctor/patient privilege also interferes with the treatment of patients.

It also would lead to the reduction of people seeking treatment.
This puts people's health more at risk and it also affects the bottom line for doctors.

btw, in order for the "authorities" to know who these individuals are, they will have to have their SSN's.

Yeah, theres no way in hell that millions of SSN's passing through multiple hands can't get hacked

Rules. They are used to get around the law under which they are enacted.

See EPA, DHS, DHH, ICE (remember - don't the "don't call us rule?").

re: Doctor/Patient Confidentiality... Not under Obamacare

I can't believe more Americans aren't upset with all the Liberties being taken away or what's being forced upon us. I'm all for making sure all Americans have healthcare, but this Affordable Health Care Act is a bad joke. I don't have Health insurance but I don't expect those who have insurance now. To be forced to get worse Health insurance because I don't have any. That's just wrong. It's almost like America is bringing everything down to the minimal levels for everyone. Guess it sorta falls into everyone gets trophy mentality. Instead of inspiring others to be the best they can be. You know, that thing called the American Dream. We want to bring people doing well down to others doing bad. Instead of lifting up the unfortunate.

Great quote below
"You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.
You cannot help small men by tearing down big men.
You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.
You cannot lift the wage earner by pulling down the wage payer.
You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more than your income.
You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatreds.
You cannot establish security on borrowed money.
You cannot build character and courage by taking away a man's initiative and independence.
You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they could and should do for themselves."

Government has it's place and job to do, but the People are just has responsible in helping themselves too. The richest Country in the World can afford to have health insurance programs for the unfortunate, and I'm all for that. But to hurt those more fortunate at the same time. Is just as wrong, that simple. Especially those that sacrifice much time away from their families or loved ones to provide their family security's. It's their sacrifice, so they should reap(Good insurance) what they sow.

I told you so.

Liberals are children who want to be taken care of, regardless of any personal liberty they lose.

Thank God, I can get treated without record.

I've been depressed about this for years. I could see this coming from a mile away, but liberals are "nothing to see here, this will never happen".

There is a reason my hubby has "not seen" anyone for his back problems.

The USA is the brokest country ever in the recorded history of nations (17 trillion in debt).

Because people are so inept, they are incapable of knowing what kind of health insurance they need

Obamacare had about as much thought put into it as the patriot act did. Both were passed too quickly to solve any issues, they just gave the government more power.

It should be a rule that congressmen aren't allowed to vote on any bill they haven't read in its entirety. Also they shouldn't be allowed to exempt themselves from a bill they pass. If they pass something into law they should be subject to the law.
