Sources: CP3 & D12 hope to team up next season. Have been texting back & forth to figure it out. Story up soon on LINK

quote:

Chris Paul and Dwight Howard have been in consistent contact recently about the possibility of becoming teammates next season, according to league sources.

..."They would love to play together if somebody can make it happen," one of the sources said.

The Atlanta Hawks could make it happen. Atlanta, which is Howard's hometown, has the cap room to sign both players to maximum-salaried contracts.

Howard is not particularly fond of the idea of returning to Atlanta, but he would do so to team up with Paul, the sources said.

...The preference for both players would be to play together for the Clippers, according to the sources. Because the Clippers don't have enough cap room to sign Howard as a free agent, it would take a sign-and-trade deal with the Lakers to make it happen.

...But while trading Howard to a team in their own building seems unthinkable, the Lakers are not likely to get a better trade package elsewhere than say, Blake Griffin and Eric Bledsoe.

How could houston get them? Harden is on max contact and no one will want lin and his contact in a trade.

Mavs would be best I think.

I don't think they go to Atlanta. They still won't want to face Miami. I could see Dallas though. Dirk, Paul, and Howard could do some good things.

Think anyone would want Asik? Asik and Lin are the only people making money. It can be done financially, and Morey has said as much.

Still don't think it happens though. Still think Paul stays in LA.

Mavs don't have the money right now to sign them both. They would have to ship Marion and/or Vince off to clear the other space. Then they battle the Heat for minimum contract players

BTW in all seriousness, today's NBA is full of bitchy players who need all the help they can get to win a title.

Wasn't Howard texting back and forth with Deron Williams last year? You see how well that turned out

Really don't care for superstars pairing up to form "super teams", but it is becoming the norm. I'm a huge LBJ fan and hated the Miami decision. I said when it happened that I would rather see him win 1 title in Cleveland than 10 in Miami

In a strictly colloquial sense, it is. I just meant it as they were talking about it. I wasn't suggesting they were doing anything illegal.
