Thibodeau and Williams will work the next three years under coach Mike Krzyzewski. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the hirings were to be announced later Monday.

The Chicago Bulls' Thibodeau and the New Orleans Pelicans' Williams will replace Mike D'Antoni and Nate McMillan. Thibodeau is considered one of the NBA's best defensive coaches.

HUGE honor for Monty and speaks well for the Pelicans organization as a whole. The more legitimacy we can have, the better free agents we can attract.

Monty seems to have the respect of all his peers in the basketball world.

That's great to hear. I still think Monty needs to add a "boy genius" assistant to his staff, but this can't hurt. And just think of the FAs he can recruit...

Also, I can't believe the OP missed the opportunity to headline the thread "CP3 to play for Coach Monty Williams Again"

They should've asked PT before hiring Monty. They don't realize what a huge mistake they've made.

Looks like Monty is good enough for New Orleans and America.

This. Also, it gives Monty a chance to grow even more as a coach working with some of the best coaches out there. Excellent news and great for the Pels organization all around!

That's a pretty big fricking deal to even be mentioned in the same breath as Thib's.

Plus, he can help keep AD23 in line instead of letting the parasites try to get to him.

It can only help. Hopefully he'll learn some stuff from the other coaches.
