Bathroom remodel question

I know it's not outdoor related, but I figured I'd get better responses here.
I am doing a bathroom remodel and replaced the old heater/vent in the ceiling with a new one. The existing cutout in the sheetrock looked a little big but I didn't think it would be a major issue. I'm sure you can see where this is going...
Fast forward to last night, I'm about to paint the ceiling which has been freshly textured and finally have the bright idea to actually see if the new vent cover will completely cover up the old cutout. It JUST BARELY does if you position is juuuust right, but then the cover doesn't align right with the vent and the holes do not line up where you need to put the screw. Do I have any easier options to fix this other than cutting the sheetrock to the studs, replacing, refloating, retexturing, etc etc etc??

This was my first thought, but I haven't been able to find just replacement covers online, or I'm just not searching for the right thing.

If you cant find a different cover, I would patch it and recut it. Or you could put some type of trim around the hole to cover the gap.

Is it the rectangular type? If so they usually come with bars that slide through brackets allowing you to move it into a certain location. If it's a round Nutone you are probably in trouble.

Get some 3" molding or door casing and use it to build a frame around the vent. It will look nice and decorative, and cover the hole.

Is it a heat/vent only. If so you might could get a heat/vent/light trim. You can usually shift those more and still get the screw in. Just wire it so the light and vent come on at the same time.
