Do the Saints have to play their preseason games in the Superdome? I think it would be a good marketing strategy and help expand or solidify their fan base in other states if they were to play some of their preseason games in Jackson, Mobile, Pensacola, Montgomery, even as far north as Birmingham or Huntsville. IMO, Mississippi should be all Saints, Alabama is ripe for expanding the fan base and so is the panhandle of Florida.

I know preseason games are tied into season tickets, would the Saints lose their shirts if they tried this?

I don't think they need to solidify the fan base any longer.

Back in the day before just about every game was on TV? Sure.

preseason tickets come packaged with season ticket holders.

season ticket holders live close by not in florida.

if preseason tickets weren't packaged, you'd have like 20k tickets sold.

a pre-season game in Mobile would probably be the farthest they would go with this.

The fans in this area are already loyal to (A) Falcons or (B) Titans. Most, though are (C) Do not care about Pro Sports.

preseason games = 100% profit for owners. they love them as long as no one gets hurt.

THIS!

There are TEN tickets in each package (but only 8 real season games). Preseason tickets aren't any cheaper either. See how that works?

I actually think this is a pretty cool idea, but as others said b/c they are part of season ticket packages it wouldn't make any sense. If they weren't tied in, I would think Jackson and Mobile might be good ideas.

I don't know about that. I realize the circumstances were different, but I think the games in Shreveport and Jackson before 2006 sold more than that. I remember Huntsville almost sold out a 9k seat arena for an NBA preseason game back in the 90's. And that is a shitty sports town.

Back on point, if the Saints were to market appropriately, as well as place these games in cities that otherwise have no opportunity to experience an NFL game, I think they would sell well. As much as forcing season ticket holders to buy tickets, probably not. But I don't know what the difference would be.

I've never been to a Saints game at the Superdome. So I dont' know the answer to this. Is every game sold out to capacity? I know the big ones are. But I don't think every game is completely full (strictly speaking attendence). If the Saints expand their fanbase, the odds increase that some families in Alabama or Mississippi will decide that they need to go to a Saints game at least once. They go to stub hub and get some tickets, and those seats get filled.

I would disagree with that. Huntsville was Titan territory in the late 90's. And I never knew anyone that liked the Falcons.

C is the most correct answer.

There are Saints season ticket holders that stretch from Houston to Destin and as far north as Arkansas. I dont think we need to start moving preseason games around.

I don't think there is a field around here that can accommodate the Saints.

I'm not sure about Huntsville, but I know some Falcons fans from Dothan, Auburn, and Valley. Of course NFL isn't nearly as popular in any of those places as college football.

I think Mississippi is pretty much Saints territory (for those who care) with Alabama split up a few ways.

I think it would be a great idea if they allowed season tix holders to only buy 8 games and have two "home" preseason games elsewhere (shreveport, Tiger Stadium for instance). Of course they can buy a 9 or 10 game plan if they want to go to the others

yep it would be nice for me as a season ticketholder that goes to maybe 1 preseason game.

but then you think about the logistics of having the games elsewhere and also the fact that the preseason games are a test run for the regular season. alot obviously goes on behind the scenes as far as getting people trained and everything in order.

All they care about is more money. If it sells less they are against it.

If the tickets are on Stubhub, the Saints aren't making any money off that.

every regular season game is filled to capacity. Preseason, not so much, especially the last game.
