So I built a rocket stove today

I think it turned out pretty awesome. Boiled 4 cups of water in 11 minutes off just a few sticks
Going to put a better grill piece on the top, but built it from stuff I had around the house

How long did it take to eat all that corn?

Looks like a stove to cook illegal things...

The way it's built and insulated you can direct the heat with minimal fuel. Seen them on a few survival blogs and figured I give it a shot.

Hah, I've been saving them as we use them

so it can be used in a survival situation? it has no practical everyday purpose?

Pretty much, I've just been really bored and wanted to see if I could build it with what I had around the house.

Would be good for the deer stand. Warm up a can I soup.
I got the cans together. The boys want to build one. You can decrease boiling time by putting a sheet of flashing around the pot. Keep all the flames on the pot.

Yeah and I'm losing a lot of heat. I used perlite(as recommended from the blogs) but the whole can is hot to the touch. I'm not sure if I have to wet it or not.

i'd burn the fricker down

Perlite is light. Clay would be better insulation. But really heavy.

The perlite isn't worth a shite, the outside is burning hot to the touch...I'm gonna use clay once it cools off this evening

In Alaska, my kids built one 4 foot tall. Made it out of cinderblocks. The sucker was amazing. With just some 1" diameter sticks, it kept us comfortable outside when it was around 0 deg.
Although it took about 45 minutes to get fully warmed up (remember ZERO deg.), we could feel the radiant heat up to 10 feet away.
Zero smoke. Super efficient. I would certainly rig a rocket stove to heat a cabin.

Is this used to cook certain methamphetamines?

It does look like that..

I've seen those big ones, they look awesome

Work with these on a regular basis, the left over char is good fertilizer for some plants.
