Anybody ever renovated an Airstream or similar camper?pics added

I just bought a 1976 Avion for $750. 
Solid wood interior. Everything works, but some dry rot in the floor in a few places and a couple of small leaks. No sig water damage except floor.
Any tips or warnings? Should I go retro and just restore it or pimp it out?
Any tips on cleaning the exterior?

Sweet. Guy had one for sale down the road and thought about buying it. Restore that sucker, there is a lot of nostalgia for those things.

Restoration is the easiest. Cabinets are in great shape. Dude didn't know what he had on his hands. I could use it as it. Upholstery is faded. Think I'm gonna redo it in leather and do hardwood floors. May change out hardware on cabinets and stove, but I'm gonna keep anything I change out. Still has original paperwork in it and sales pamphlet.

I bought a 1950 something model Avion a few years ago for $300. Just needed a dry, warm place to sleep. And that's exactly all it's good for. It's a pretty solid camper.
I'll post some pics when I get home. It was gutted by the previous owner and has never leaked.

Only 750. Pimp that sucker out. I saw once on the travel channel this special company that restores and updates old air streams, have to admit it gave me a tingle.
