I was at the Beau in Biloxi this weekend and another LSU fan said, "they won't win it all because they dont know how to manufacture runs." I said, "Maybe, but they sure know how to win games."

This tournament was an excellent example. We didn't play our best ball by any meAns, especially hitting the ball ... We also had some mental errors on the bases and in the field... We're shuffling the starting lineup around with the injuries ... But when all was said and done, LSU won the tournament of college baseball's top conference. We fought through some tight/intense games and - Despite our shortcomings - simply found a way to win.

Is this team perfect? No
Do we have some questionable spots in the lineup? Sure
Is our pitching staff all Aces? No.
Do we have head-scratching moments? Yes ...

But make no mistake - this LSU team knows how to do one thing better than any team in LSU baseball history ... Win games. And it would probably be a good bet that the wins will continue to pile up for LSU over the next month.

Our pitching is solid as hell......and we had some guys step up this weekend that we needed to on the mound.

We just need a few guys to get hot (MK, RR, etc).

And hopefully Jacoby can come back and hit like he was before the injury.

I think we cooled down but I have a feeling once the lineup stabilizes again we are about to heat back up.

People say we suck at hitting, but what team is really much better?

I mean Vandy wasn't today, that's for sure.

This team is noticeably better than last year.

This is a very good baseball team. I know it is a rant tradition for some the "fans" to come in here and bitch about one thing or another after a victory. Pretty stupid tradition if you ask me, but who can understand coonasses, yats and rednecks?
Too bad they can't ever be happy.

A lot of people jumped on this bandwagon after the Arky loss. I don't think PM makes some of those calls in a game that really matters. But hey, who the frick am I? We just beat a very good Vandy team throwing their ace against our #4 or 5.

This is the kind of team that I looked up at the end of the season and thought to myself, "wow, how the hell did this team win the most games in LSU history?"

Not that this team isn't good, we definitely are very good ... It just doesn't "feel" like one of the best teams we've ever fielded.

Which goes back to my Original point... this team is not perfect by any means, but for whatever reason(s) they just know how to win.

Maybe because a lot of LSU fans relive the Geaurilla Ball days. This team is very good but in a different way. It reflects what is needed to win in college baseball today.

I don't think some fans understand baseball. Pitching is a huge part of baseball and if they don't see the ball flying out the yard and hits in the gap all game. Then they think that they suck at hitting. Lsu was top 3 in the sec in offense and that wasnt by luck.

Gray and me i think are thinking the same thing.

Yeah, the game has definitely changed over the years, specifically with the new bats.

Along with the players and coaches having to adjust, fans also need a little time to "adjust our own mindsets." Just because we don't score 6-10 runs every game doesn't necessarily mean our offense is anemic.

All that said, we have been a little inconsistent at the plate recently.

We also have a ton of speed on the bases. With the small ball being played, this is a big bonus which is often overlooked.

We also have the best closer in baseball, which will come in handy in post-season.

Yep, I'm still nervous with middle relief tho. Maybe I shouldn't be, but I am. And Eades/Glenn still have the potential to scare me.

Is there any team in history that can answer "yes, no, yes, no"?

I'm only going to be happy if we win the Regional, Super Regional and CWS with a complete game shutout, a no-hitter and a perfect game in that order.

Some people question Mainieri's lineup choices. As I pointed out yesterday, it's giving some reserves quality playing time, and we may need that down the road. We sure needed it Sunday. The reserves came through big time.

I personally refuse to stay in the in-game threads too long, especially in the postseason.

I get nervous enough without all the negative Nancies that want perfection adding feul to my nervous fire.
