Alamo Drafthouse is very typical Austin - which is, a cool place with some quirkiness. Large selection of beer, okay food, and a fun place to watch a movie. They actually have some theme nights where you can say the lines with the movie. Anchorman was pretty funny with everyone quoting the lines. I've only been to the one at Lake Creek - doesn't have the best seats , i.e. kind of out-dated. But, still a great place to see a movie.

For a bit better food and much more comfortable seating and viewing - try out The Galaxy Moviehouse. Leather reclining seats, great bar, and decent food.

Both theaters are reserved seating - so you get to pick what seats you want to be in. Works great if you plan ahead.

Been to all of them in Austin. Pretty great. People eating can get annoying. Great popcorn.

I had a buddy who looked into doing something like this in BR in the early 2000's...nothing came of it though, obviously.

I've been to one of the ones in Austin a couple of times. I like the quirkyness. I really like the fact that they WILL kick you out if you're on the phone talking or texting, or talking in the theater. They don't mess around and I love that. Wish more theaters would do this.
