Sure, our poor could live like kings in Bangladesh, but then that really no longer makes the good ole US of A the 'best country in the world,' now would it?

Because of assholes like you, America's second revolution is going to be so much more bloodier than the French could ever have imagined.

Not a soul here knows the exact reasons ESPN did what they did.

Layoffs are a fact of life if you are a working man. I am a bit shocked at some of the naivety here.

It's highly possible that ESPN doesn't require these positions anymore.

we have the richest "poor" in the history of the world and you are worried about wealth inequality

our poor being better off than other nations poor really has very little, if anything, to do with the fact that the increasing wealth inequality is a very real problem that will eventually bite the super wealthy and major corporations in the arse.

and BTW, proclaiming that our poor are better off than the poor in any other nation in the history of the world is a dubious claim at best.

actually it has everything to do with it

if our poor are bettering their lives at a faster rate than any other poor, then who cares what advances the rich make?

well our poor today are clearly better than the poor of the past. which country's poor are better than our poor? there probably are examples of people at the end of the economic spectrum being better off, but i don't know if those dregs are comparable to our dregs

but it is clear that now is the best time to be poor in an advanced country in the history of the world

Well now that Finebaum is going to be working for them, I'd say the ones laid off just got lucky they're not going to be associated with the prick.

the only way this power exists is government, though. if you want to remove this influence, you have to scale back the power of government

that really depends on your definition of being "better off" means as well as an in depth study into thousands of societies for comparisons sake.

You can't just simply say something so all encompassing like that without actual facts and analysis.

as for this

quote:

actually it has everything to do with it

if our poor are bettering their lives at a faster rate than any other poor, then who cares what advances the rich make?

IMO if the advances of the rich are at the expense of a strong middle class then it is not to the benefit of our society as a whole.

when Fat Cat Co kills a factory in the US so they can move to Bumblefrickistan b/c they don't have to worry about safety of the employees and can pay jack shite even though they are already making a healthy profit with their factory here its bad for our country.

I'd rather pay $1 more for the widget Fat Cat makes in the US if it means less adults are going to end up in shite arse jobs like Wal Mart where they will purposely keep your hours low to avoid paying insurance and encourage you to get on welfare.
