What are some good ones AND what to order? What are their specialties.

TIA

Ninfa's used to be up there, has gone downhill lately IMO.

On the border is grotesque.

La Carreta is solid.

Las Palmas is an upscale Taco Bell.

The rest are all consistent and do well, especially Mestizo's.

Mestizo's food is horrible.

Coyote Blues is good. Duck quesadilla FTW

La Carreta has never given me a bad meal either.

We've go to Mestizo's all the time for the $5 margaritas on Wednesday. And their skinny margarita is the shite and and is strong as frick. Thanks Ashley! (Great bartender)

We have ate there at least three times and never had a good meal. I remember fried crawfish salad. Worst salad ever. Burnt, too much batter on the crawfish. No flavor. Just bad.

Seafood queso is garbage too. Really just nothing good to say about the food.

We still go at least once a month for the skinny Rita's which are great.

Tex Mex wise, I enjoy La Carreta. Their queso is yummy and their food is pretty good IMO.

Casa LaVida on Coursey is very good if you are out that way. I get steak chimichangas everywhere I go.

For more authentic real Latin food, Mi Pueblito on Siegan is where the Mexicans in BR eat. (As well as La Tiendita)
You can't go wrong with anything there, but the Mexicans are always eating soup.

La Reyna is Honduran food but its one of my favorite restaurants in Baton Rouge. Outstanding.
The puerco guisado is amazing. Get yourself a papusa to go with it.
The Honduran tacos there are also very good.

Brisket is good I agree. The rest of the food is meh. Nola and Shreveport superior runs circles around the BR one.

What is the new place in Perkins/Bluebonnet, with rock and roll theme, it is Mexican correct?

I like the Shreveport location.
Actually that's where I found those soft tacos.
Ate at uncle Julio's in Dallas last night, place was solid.

Not sure if I've ever eaten at superior in Nola sober.
True story.

I am in the minority, but my favorite is El Rio Grande. Chili/onion enchiladas con huevos, chocolate chimichanga, good guacamole.

For legit authentic Mexican I hit up the place on Siegen mentioned above, La Tiendita.

A lot of people rave about La Rayna but I didn't think it was that great.

Las palmas - while cheaper quality, I've always enjoyed

Mi padres - pretty damn good

La tiendita - authentic, delicious tamales
