Why does Phoenix still have a NHL team?

some other guy tried to buy the coyotes and already failed
Is there not other city that wants a team?? Why is the NHL hell-bent on keeping a team in Phoenix?

Move them to Houston. But the Rockets and Toyota Center have to get their taste though.

There was a good chance that they were going to if the NBA approved the move of the Kings to Seattle today. The way the new arena plan works in Seattle is that it will not be built unless an NBA team is secured first, then they would push for an NHL team too.

And they are doing it backwards. Commit to building the arena and secure the NHL team. Then the NBA thing will work itself out.

I was hoping for that too. The problem is that it's the NBA ownership group that is building the arena, not the city. It's virtually all privately financed. The city is giving them a $120m loan with a guarantee of it being paid back and the NBA ownership group is paying for the rest which is like $350m or something.

I'm sure having an arena built in 2003 coupled with public funds is the main culprit.
