Does anyone have any insight into what he has meant to recruiting so far and if LSU has a chance to retain him?

Sounds like LSU is prepared to pony up. If LSU loses him, it appears it won't be over money.

So, we can put an end to the LSU basketball coaches are not sought after by upper echelon program line that has been thrown out over the Braohnsones Era. Now we can point to the interest in Kirby. Great sign for the program. Hopefully, we can retain him.

You're confusing Kirby and Patrick.

He is our only connection with Dante Exum and especially Ben Simmons. If he ends up at Memphis I'd call it right now Simmons will end up there too.

You have your coaches mixed up. David Patrick is the Austrailian pipeline. Not Kirby.

I thought David Patrick was the Ben Simmons tie?

No. Kirby is an elite recruiter no doubt, but Patrick has the Aussie connection.

Yeah I messed that one up big time...Kirby is still one of if not our best recruiter. Patrick is the international/aussie connection.

It'd be bigger to lose Kirby though IMO.

Would this be some lateral move?

perhaps. memphis is home so that is something to consider. i'd like to think we exceed whatever they offer in terms of money.

Agreed. Robert Kirby has been and will be even more instrumental in recruiting solid players in the states.

He would still be an assistant coach, but the quality of the program (at least in the short term) would be an upgrade. I'm not sure how assistant coaching in basketball works. That is, though there are assistants who are higher up the food chain on any given staff, the titles are not as uniform as they are in, say, football.
