Does any one know the value of an old style 4 inch 686 in good shape?

686 is a damn fine pistol. Going to depend on condition. I'd say normally 550-750. If its in regular used but not destroyed condition if ask 7 and take 625-650

How old?
Assuming its in prestine (shot a few dozen times) condition id say $700.
Normally used I'd say about $500

Their prices are low though...

You find a 686 in decent condition for 500 or less let me know. I'd like to own one

Saw a 7 shot 2:5 in at a metry pawn shop recently, $725, didnt have the coin lucked out on a sp101 for much less, but dropped it in lake p during choppy water,I read the pre lock ones are more desireable.

If it has combat sights and no lock you should get North of 600

Does old style mean no lock? If so I'd say $650.

+1
An old 686 is one hell of a revolver.

I got it from a budy of mine, probably bought new in early to mid 90's. I don't think it has ever had anything other than 38 specials fired through it. It has the firing pin on the hammer.

I'm not a revolver guy at all, but it defiantly shoots great.

I bought a 2.5 prelock in pristine condition
I expected to pay up to 650 for it and was pleasantly surprised when the gentleman asked for 550
It was in a crown royal bag (of course) with no flame cutting and no fouling
I questioned whether he had even fired it and he said he did back when he bought it in 89 or 90 but not since

Ps, the 4" 686 is my favorite double action revolver of all time!
I want it but can't tie more money into it now.
Ill trade ya my stub nose!

600-700 from what I've seen. Traded a 629 before the gun craze and got 600 out of it. Regret the hell out of trading that thing.
