If I pick up a sack of live crawfish Saturday, but I don't want to boil them until Sunday, is there a way to store them?

Refrigerator? Ice chest with them on top?

Thanks in afvance for replies.

Put a couple bricks in the bottom of an ice chest.
Open plug on ice chest
Put burlap sack and or towel on top of crawfish
Keep in shade
Keep towel wet, you can even put a bag of ice on top, just don't let the ice come in direct contact with the crawfish.
Boil
Drink beer
??????
Profit.

Never heard this, and have kept them this way for years. Any one care to explain?

I do everything else on the list FWIW.

You think they'd be OK for 24!hours?

I can keep them in my garage and put the ice chests by the door so the water could drain out. Can also turn the AC on in the garage.

========

They will die if they get too cold.

So you're saying don't commence beer drinking until after I pick them up?

OK, I can probably do that.

They must be hardy critters.

No wonder you have to boil 'em to eat 'em.

You'll be fine. I did this a few weeks ago with some crawfish that shipped from Louisiana to Northern CA. Keep them high and dry and cool. I maybe had a 1-2% loss rate.

I took some to talladega last weekend... Iced two sacks in an ice chest. Pulled plug. 24 hrs later I picked out maybe 10-15 total dead crawfish.

No burlap..no shade..no AC.. Just ice on the sacks.
