Supposedly there is some place around Exxon where all of the plant workers purchase their chicken , pork and sausage in bulk. Anyone know the name of it and where it's located?

I would recommend a place like Leblancs Grocery to get Pork temple meat. Comes in a large frozen block. Not sure what this place by exxon is.

I use regular store bought chicken thighs and Veyron's sausage. You dont need to shop at a specialty store for jambalaya ingredients imo.

They are probably referring to Ready Portion Meat, it's off of Choctaw on Sorrel Ave I think.

Thanks. I would normally buy temple meat from Lamendolas an the rest from Mathernes. I don't have a lot of time this week to run around. This place will supposedly it everything to order.

Still have never seen this "pork temple" meat in any store in NOLA. I just cube up a pork shoulder.

I've never seen it either but the one jambalaya I had with it was the best I've ever eaten. It was unbelievable and I don't even like jambalaya.

Man its wierd the way you buy it in a long rectangle fozen chunk of meat (at least where I buy it) but it makes incredible jambalaya.

I didnt even know Leblacs had it until I thought about going crabbing one year and looked in the section of the store that carried odd meats like chitlins and beef liver, melt etc. Then I saw a frozen chunk and read the label. Its cheap too.

The butchers here have not even heard of it. I was in BR yesterday and forgot to figure out where to look for it

I guess I'll have to grab some next time I come to BR. Which Leblancs location did you go to?

Yeah, I wouldn't know where to look on the northshore. Probably have to butcher it myself.

Leblancs in Walker always seems to have it thats where I get it. Far back left of the store in freezer next to milk. I would imagine the location in gonzales has it too.

It's kind of slang, but it means exactly what you think it means.

Sometimes you have to ask the butcher.
