SMH at the Black Keys...Same setlist for years

Yesterday's setlist was the same list as the Final Four concert setlist with yesterday's having a few added songs.

Be inventive. Play a cover, play some seldom heard stuff every now and then. They have played the SAME EXACT setlist song for song for a couple years now. No deviation.

Been listening to them for around 7 years and have their entire discography, but they're on my short list of bands that have the potential to completely sellout ie KOL

That, my friend, is what happens when you are on autopilot.

said the same thing in the JF thread

still fuming about this. one of my favorite bands, and i didn't even have that high of expectations, and they didn't even come close to meeting them. awful sound, awful set, just all around awful. little crowd interaction, and they had so many people to draw from (including Dr. John, like heady said). uber disappointment.

I'm a pretty big fan of their old stuff, never got into their music from Brothers and on.

I saw them at Hangout two yrs ago and thought they sounded great, but Auerbach is kind of a douche. He said something to the effect of "Yeah, uh make sure y'all stay for that uh other guy over there." He was referring to Paul Simon who was about to come out on the headliner stage across the beach. I thought they kind of went the way of KOL a while ago, but I have hesitated to say it because people that say that regarding Kings of Leon are tools.

It's def. a bummer. Seems like they're believing their own hype.

They're selling out and it started with Brothers.

Yes, going from garage/blues rock and going pop is SELLING OUT. They're no longer unique....just another band on the radio.

I think they still sound pretty fricking good. How anyone can say Brothers or even El Camino is bad a bad album is beyond me

Yeah, just because more people like them now and they don't sound exactly the same as they used to, they are selling out. It's pretty funny seeing people say this type of stuff.

I had never seen the Black Keys live before, but I have been a fan for years, and I have to say that I thought they were awful live. The music sounded okay, but they didn't really rock-out in the least bit until their last two songs nor did they really talk to the audience much. It also sounded like they were missing a musician or two and that some of the guitar was recorded. I am glad I saw them, but a bit offended as a fan that they were not more into the show.

lolwut? If you think the Black Keys are anything close to pop, you are insane.

Sunday was the first time I had seen them live after being a fan for a few years now. I could tell they weren't jamming out as hard as they probably could have, but i wasn't "offended." They still played a great show for it being 3 in the afternoon.

I think that some posters on this board think that it's the cool thing to do. "OMG, I'm not the only one that knows this band anymore! They suck."

I've seen them twice. First time at Bonnaroo in 2010 and then the Final Four concert. I thought they kicked arse both times. The first time, though, I had smoked some of the dopest dope I've ever smoked. Maybe they had an off day

I didn't discover them until around the Brothers release. So GTFO with your bullshitee....I never claimed to be a fan from their early days. But their early music is awesome. This new garbage with all the pop elements is a joke.

Some of you same people (I'm not saying YOU...but other posters) who praise the Black Keys for going radio friendly trash other bands/artists for doing the same.

The Black Keys could have gone several ways in terms of getting popular. They didn't have to remain a garage rock type of band...they could have gone to more hard rock or something. But if you don't hear pop music in Brothers and El Camino then you need to listen to more music.
