You had a Square Enix ID, NOT a Final Fantasy XIV ID.. common man!

also

you are welcome

in fact the token is even called the SQEX not the FFXIV.. Token!

To make sure you are 100% legit with the token, you have to do everything through se.com.. not through anything to do with ffxiv.. they do this for security reasons.

what's going on now?

also, stop for a second and breathe.. don't go try and buy gil with your character information.. and your account will be safe for a long long time, probably forever.. after you have thought about this for awhile, and you have calmed down.. tell me where you are getting stuck?

Hyperion, see you there

Just post your character information and Oauron will invite you to the "guild" type community.

This game was like a well designed gamer safe. It took me about 2 hrs to figure out how to log in.

So I feel your pain; I had to take a break when I was about to say frick it and give up (essentially letting my purchase go to waste)

The thing that made me laugh is that it accepted the ID I chose and then when they emailed me, they changed my id by adding numbers. Took me about 30 mins to figure this one out

Nice, I started on another server last night but I'll reroll.

Played ff-XI a bunch; looks like they took that game and WOW and mashed them together.

AND FWIW, this game has got to have the worst first 25 mins of any mmo I've ever played.

I'm not looking for much other than a time sink in this game though, so I think I'll be satisfied.

Onto questions:

Does your birth date matter at all? (the character creation birth date)

I do not believe so, it's a carryover from the original game.. I just picked my birthdate and went from there.

Also, the first 25 minutes are AWFUL.. omg, I wish you could just skip that crap!

ETA: What server did you play on, in xi?

Hmm,I wanna say ifrit.

I started monk, ended up main'ing SAM/War or Mnk/SAM

Got a few pieces into that first of the last two sets of armor for each class (for Samurai); the ones you needed the super raids to get and then stopped shortly after when WOW was fixing to come out

I say this game was hard to get into but thinking back, FFXI was a nightmare. You pretty much HAD to make these obnoxious macros to even function in parties. And outside of parties, their was nothing.

However I kind have grown to miss the way that forced community on you after some of the newer mmo's where you can basically solo/world event all the way to the cap and not have to work with anyone.

It's fixed now...it wouldn't take the date of birth that I had updated to. As soon as I put in the "wrong" birthday it went through. I even made sure not to send out the registration password email bit until after I had saved the changes with my correct birthday but whatever.

That's a weird set of circumstances. Glad it's all resolved.

Hey guys!

Never posted on this board much, but I just picked up this game. I am new to MMOs, but this game is incredibly addicting to me. I was wondering what the most profitable skill is for a newcomer to the game? I want to level up and become stronger through fighting, but I'd also like to make money fairly quickly. My buddy does a bunch of crafting, but I don't know if I have the patience.

Get in a FATE party and run them in places like Costa de Sol, Coerthas, and Northern Thanalan. You'll level quick.

Do story quest before you get to that point.

Now running AK and hard primals. Doing relic weapon in spare time.

Good Luck with this. The only people that make a decent amount craft level 50 gear for people to soulbond and dismantle. You could always play the AH; this is an easy way to make money in any MMO, but it takes a lot of research time upfront. In this game though you can look at the sales history of items, making it a bit easier.

I've made a good bit of coin from selling extra ore I've mined that I don't need for my Armorsmith. That doesn't really work so well until you can mine Iron as Copper and Tin are both sold on the tradecraft merchants. Of course, the problem with that plan is that you actually have to be high enough to get access to the Retainer which is what allows you to sell stuff on the market place.
