I am on my second new Sig P238. After returning the first one even before firing a shot due to a loose magazine and poor ammo feeds, my second one won't feed either. Ammo is so hard to find and all I have is JHP's (Buffalo Bore +P 90gr & Starfire PMC 95gr). FTF rate of 80%.

Are these little guns really that finicky? I hate to send the second one back at least until I try ball ammo if and when I can find it. Meanwhile, anyone else have this issue? If so, has it been resolved?

Did you field strip and clean the gun first?

Most guns come with a protective grease in them. This should be cleaned out, then the gun should be lubed.
Most folks will tell you that Sigs like to be run "wet". Make sure the rails are well lubed.
Here is a good guide showing how to properly lube your Sig: LINK

Did you disassemble and clean your mags?

Same as the gun, they may or may not have grease in them. If you lube the mags, one tiny drop is enough.

You should also load the mags and let them sit for a few days. Sig mags usually have very stiff springs in them. You can also "exercise" the mags by taking a pencil, ruler, etc. and moving the follower up and down to help break in stiff springs.

Finally, I would recommend breaking any semi-auto gun in on FMJ ammo. Some guns are picky about which HP ammo they like. I definitely would not break it in on +P ammo.
Good luck finding any, we all feel your pain...

Romp covered it pretty well. I would check the feed ramps and make sure there aren't any burrs or mis-shapings and see what Sig recommends for break in period prior to giving up. It is usually a couple hundo

Glock is too stubborn to make a pocket 380, or even a single stack 9mm for that matter.

Thanks rompus. I did field strip and clean the gun, not the mags. Never even considered the mags. The springs on this little puppy certainly doesn't offer near the resistance of my Kimbers. But, I will load the mags and let them sit. But mainly I think I need to find FMJ ammo before I can proceed. I was expecting to maintain the +P for SD. Not so sure that's gonna work. Certainly know it doesn't yet.

I just wasn't expecting complications. Pretty used to a handgun working from the get go.
