Pretty much. Squash is fairly easy to grow. Sun and water

Squash is one of those "easy" vegetables...Put in dirt, allow full sun, don't plant too close to other plants as the squash plant will spread out pretty good. I never have any problems with squash or zucchini , they are pretty tough & produce pretty much without much care.

I concur with the above and will add I think they do better in sandy soil.

Give them plenty of room to grow. I put mine in the ground a couple weeks ago.

How well would squash do in a large pot?

If you are referring to the common varieties of summer squash like yellow & zucchini then I recommend planting them atop a well mounded plot of soil, 6"-8" high, 12"-15" diameter. This allows the heavier fruit to grow down the mound for easier harvest. 2-3 plants will produce enough squash than the average family will care to eat. Harvest often, twice a day if necessary, & don't be afraid to take the smaller fruits later in the season.

give them more room than you think they need.
